George Guess, MD, DABHM

I'm George Guess, a family physician trained in classical Homeopathic medicine. I have been practicing Homeopathy for 31 years. A few years after completing my family practice residency as an M.D. I became interested in Homeopathy. A gentle yet potent method of healing, Homeopathy appealed to me because of its promise and its methodology, which addresses the whole individual -- mind, heart and body.

I studied extensively with George Vithoulkas, M.I.H., the pre-eminent Homeopathic educator of our time, culminating my years of study with a one-year period of intensive study with Vithoulkas in Athens, Greece. After practicing in Asheville, North Carolina for 14 years, my family and I moved to Charlottesville, Virginia (and now Crozet, about 10 miles west of Charlottesville). Here I maintain a solo private homeopathic medical practice. In addition to my work as a physician, I served as Editor of the American Journal of Homeopathic Medicine (the oldest professional medical organization in the United States) for 22 years and am currently Vice-President of the American Board of Homeopathic Medicine (ABHM: the national homeopathic medical specialty board for MDs and DOs). In addition, I have periodically lectured medical and nursing, etc. students about Homeopathy at the Medical College of Virginia and the University of Virginia.

As regards bioidentical hormone therapy (BHRT), I've studied with Eldred Taylor, MD (BHRT), Dennis Wilson, MD (Wilson's Temperature Syndrome), and the Association for the Advancement of Restorative Medicine and have been employing BHRT in my practice since approximately 2004.  I find it a very effective and well-tolerated treatment modality.

If you wish, please refer to my Certification and Licensure page (the list of publications, I regret to say, is not always quite up to date).
